Chapter 3. Deja vu

The heat was oppressing , just like old times. The Camp didn't change much since her last visit. Jessie was supposed to meet prof. Tobias Dawson, the famous Egyptologyst, and the director for excavations of the Al Simhara dig sites.

 

- Tobias!! 

- Oh my dearest girl! God, look at you! You are gorgeous!! How are you? You look a bit skinny you know!

- Haha, Oh Tobias, it's so good to see you, I missed you too! I'm better...

- Oh well that sounds reassuring! You aren't still angry about that incident two years ago, are you? You know you should really learn to let go...

- Angry!? For walking in on my boyfriend with the maid!? Oh no... I'm way past that... It's just work you know...

- Good!! Good dear!

- I'm sorry to cut to the chase, but I need to ask... Have you opened it?

- That's ok, I'm anxious too! The opening is scheduled for tomorrow morning! We were waiting for a specialist on tomb exploration. You can't just walk in to a crypt and hope everything goes well, this kinda of things need good preparation, and you can understand my caution.... can't you?

- Yes... I know.... So when is this specialist supposed to arrive?

- Umm...

- Is there something wrong Tobias?

- No, no, everything is fine, in fact he is already at the dig site. Well I suppose it's best to get it over with...

- What do you mean?

- Come on, I'll explain at the dig site!

- Well here we are! 

- Oh, so this is it?!

- Yes! Unbelievable, but the key was right next to the Great Sphinx all along! The sand storm raveled the skeleton. Some tourists called the Institute and reported it. The key was in his hands! 

- Jessie? Is there something wrong?

- I..... NO..... I'm sorry, give me a moment...

- Jessie... now please.... Jessie!

 - And then just..... What the.....Jessie?!

- YOU!!!

     *slap*

 - HEY!!! Calm down woman!

 - Calm down?! I've been waiting a long time to do that!

- Jesus Jessie! You are making a scene I....

- You have some nerve Emeric Bronson! What are you doing here?! Came back to visit your "girlfriend"?

- My what?! Oh come on! You never gave me a chance to explain...

- Explain what?! It's not like you stuffed your tongue into an other woman's throat while we were dating!! Oh, no, wait a minute... YES YOU DID!!!

- Oh for the love of God!!! I thought she was you!!! We had I fight, I was drunk, it was dark, I was alone in the hotel bar and I thought she was YOU!!

- SHE WAS WEARING A MAID'S UNIFORM!!!!

- SHE JUST KISSED ME!!!

- YEAH, AND YOU LOOKED LIKE YOU REALLY HATED IT!!! 

- I THOUGHT YOU WERE KISSING ME!!!!!

 - I have nothing more to say to you!

- Jessie will you PLEASE listen to me!?

- I honestly don't know why I should!! 

 - Hm... Jessie I see you've met our Tomb Exploration Specialist.... I hate to brake this up, but....

- HIM?! You knew he was here?!

-  I heard about the dig site. I knew prof. Dawson was the director of the excavations. You didn't return my calls, so I pulled some strings to be assigned on this project and prof. Dawson agreed not to tell you. 

- That's just great! Gee, thanks a lot Toby.... 

- Dearest, I'm sorry.... I just couldn't say no.... He was begging me....

- Jessie, can we talk?

- I don't like that you are here, and I don't like that you dragged Tobias into this and I will certainly not speak a single word to you!! I will just tolerate your presence for the sake of this project and that is all!! 

- Well Jessie..... Hm.... I guess now would be the time to show you the key.... if you still want to see it, that is.....

- I present the Crescent Key Stone.....

- Wow..... Tobias, It's amazing! It looks ancient!! It's heavy!

- Well it appears to be as old as the Sphinx it self!

- So what is the plan Tobias?

- The opening of the Gates is scheduled for tomorrow morning. Emeric will actually be the first man ever to walk in the reception chamber of the Great Sphinx!

- Why him?

- Well as our Tomb Exploration Specialist he has to make sure there aren't any traps that could endanger the archeology team. When he makes sure it's safe well follow and you can make some very important photos. For now you can take shots of the dig site and I'll answer any questions you have when we get back to the camp. But you should hurry, it's getting late and we should really had back before nightfall.

  

- Look, Professor.... I'm really sorry I've putt you in such an uncomfortable position.

- Oh don't worry about it chum. You do realize she still loves you, don't you?

- Yes... I know.... I just wish I hadn't made things so complicated.

- Ha, well than you really are made for each other! Look... I devoted my life to this sand here, and to Jessie. I'm not exactly an expert on these things. But I do know this: It's easy to find the way to a lover whose footsteps you already know by heart. I know you'll find your way to her, just follow your heart... Good night my friend...
